Blue Box

Blue Box was a small Windows tool from MikeTheTech, a digital blue box. A blue box generates the in-band signaling tones once used on the North American long-distance telephone network, the tones phone phreakers used. It was published on itch.io in January 2022 with a simple greeting, “Hey, Phreaks!”, as a modern tone generator with usable, accurate tones.

Everything happened in one keypad window: the digits 0 to 9, KP and ST keys, and a 2600 Hz button, with keyboard hints on the keys and Esc to close. It was a free, name-your-own-price download and is no longer offered.
