My First XbotGo Chameleon Session: Phone, App and Remote Connected

Trying the mount and indoor controls in the original August 2024 preview.

Article published November 4, 2026.

The XbotGo Chameleon is described as upcoming when I open this package in August 2024. That matters for the title: this is the original preview, not a claim that it is still in pre-sale today.

What interests me is the split between the phone and the mount. The Chameleon handles the tracking side while the phone is used for the recording.

Fit the phone, then connect the controls

I look through the remote, cable and manual before fitting my phone into the holder. The base has padding and a tripod connection.

After powering it on, I connect through the XbotGo app. I also remove the remote’s battery tab, turn it on and select it when it appears in the app.

Try it inside before a game

I choose follow-me mode rather than pretending there is a sport happening in the room. I show directional movement and work through the mode controls, including photo and video recording prompts.

That is an indoor control demonstration. I do not film a match, verify jersey-number tracking or measure image quality, full movement range or battery life.

A first step in the setup

XbotGo sent this for the preview. Later, I opened the lime-green Chameleon in a separate session. That later unboxing is a different look at the hardware, not a replacement for this original app-and-remote demonstration.
