Educational Site Loader
One-window launcher for popular K-12 learning websites.
The Del Rey Woods “Auto-Load” window: nine tiles for Starfall, ABCya!, Dance Mat Typing, Sheppard Software, EducationCity, Ten Marks, PBS Kids, BBC Bitesize and Mr. Nussbaum, a menu bar (Menu, Auto Load, Calculator, Paint, About), a sound icon and a date bar.
Overview
Educational Site Loader was the public release of the Windows launcher Mike first made for Del Rey Woods Elementary School in 2014. It opened a single window, titled Del Rey Woods “Auto-Load”, filled with large tiles for popular learning sites such as Starfall, ABCya!, Dance Mat Typing, Sheppard Software, EducationCity, PBS Kids, BBC Bitesize and Mr. Nussbaum.
Alongside the links, the menu bar gave quick access to the Windows Calculator and Paint plus sound options. It was meant for an elementary school, though many of the resources suit K-12.
It was shared on itch.io as a free, name-your-own-price download: a single 545 kB program, DRWAutoLoad.exe, started from an apple icon (“Double-click the apple!”).
