XbotGo Chameleon and NT1: The Tripod Packs Down Smaller Than I Expected

Opening the phone-tracking setup and extending the portable tripod at the desk.

Article published November 3, 2026.

The XbotGo Chameleon is the familiar part of this package for me. The NT1 tripod is the surprise. It comes out of a compact carrying case and extends much farther than I expect while I am trying it at the desk.

This session is the hardware unboxing and setup. I do not take it to a game or demonstrate the player-tracking features in use here.

The Chameleon pieces

I open the pearl-gray Chameleon, look over the phone clip and controller, and unpack the cable, cleaning cloth and carrying bag. I talk about the phone-and-app tracking workflow that interests me, but the example of following a player's number is a description of the feature, not footage of it working in this video.

The included controller and storage pieces make the kit feel like something meant to travel together. I do not measure the controller's range or validate the advertised capture specifications.

Extending the NT1

The tripod's telescoping sections are the part I spend time handling. I extend it, try the locking motion and look at the feet, then attach the unit using the mounting knob.

There is an awkward moment while I am extending it, and I point out that I had not secured the locks properly. That belongs in the first-look account too. A short desk demonstration is not a load test or a guarantee of stability outdoors.

A filming setup I still need to take out

I like how compact the tripod is when packed and how the mounting control works without awkwardly turning the whole setup. The next question is how the complete arrangement behaves during an actual recording session.

For this video, the useful view is the set of pieces, the extension mechanism and the mounting process. The sports-tracking and moving-camera results still need their own demonstration.
