Mountain Everest Max: The Number Pad Can Go on Either Side
Why the modular layout and clicky switches made this a favorite in my April 2024 setup.
Article published November 4, 2026.
I call the Everest Max one of the best keyboards I have owned in this recording, and the reason is not just the clicky keys. It gives me several ways to arrange the things I normally have to fit around a keyboard.
Move the number pad
I bought the Midnight Black version with Cherry MX Blue switches from Newegg. In the box, the main keyboard sits above a drawer of accessories.
The number pad attaches on either side, and the included extension lets me move it farther away. I show how it connects, then explain that I personally prefer it directly attached.
A media dock with a dial
The top module has media buttons, a screen and a rotating dial. It can also move between positions along the top of the keyboard.
I like being able to change the layout without replacing the whole board. The number pad’s small display buttons are another part of that modular approach.
Try the switches before changing them
I find sample switches, a puller, an extra Escape key and magnetic feet in the accessories. If the switch choices interest you, my later Cherry MX Experience Box session puts several samples beside a microphone.
By the time I record my closing thoughts, I have used the keyboard for roughly two or three weeks and am really enjoying it. That is a personal April 2024 impression. I use the included cable successfully; I do not test every possible replacement cable or establish a lifetime durability result.
