aosu SolarCam D1 Max: A Separate Panel and a Camera I Still Want to Test
Opening the mounts and fitting the panel cable before an outdoor installation.
Article published November 4, 2026.
I have used a SolarCam D1 before, so I am interested in what changes with the D1 Max. This recording starts with the box, though—not with footage from an installed camera.
The solar panel can go somewhere else
I take out the separate panel and look at its mount and USB-C connection. That arrangement gives the panel its own position instead of requiring it to sit directly on the camera.
There are mounting clips, labeled hardware, guides and a charging cable in the box. On the camera, I point out the surrounding lights, speaker and card/button compartment.
Fit the connector and its housing
I plug the panel connection into the camera and screw the outer housing together. It is useful to see how that assembles before choosing a place to mount it.
The threaded connection does not prove weather resistance, and I have not measured charging output or battery life in this session.
My earlier D1 experience is a different result
I talk about the original D1 I had used and the higher-resolution specifications listed for the Max. That is why I want to try it, not evidence of the Max’s actual image quality.
I say I plan to install it and record sample footage next. Night vision, detection, cloud features and any comparison with the older camera still need their own tests.
