TEAMGROUP MP44S: Two Terabytes in a Very Small 2230 Drive
Opening the SSD before a planned Steam Deck installation and data-copying session.
Article published November 4, 2026.
For a moment, I think something is missing. Then I realize that the tiny piece in the packaging really is the drive. I have handled longer M.2 SSDs before, but this 2230 module still catches me off guard.
This is the TEAMGROUP MP44S package labeled 2 TB, which I am planning to use for a Steam Deck project.
The dimensions are the first impression
I open the packaging and turn the module over so you can see just how small it is. The capacity is a label I am reading, rather than a full-capacity write test carried out in this recording.
I also read the advertised transfer speeds. There is no benchmark here, so those figures should stay separate from any result on the Deck or another device.
The installation needs another video
I say I want to show the Steam Deck installation and use another tool to copy the existing data across. Neither the installation nor the copying happens in this first-look session.
I am also not establishing that this is the largest drive available or that every small gaming device accepts it. The exact device and its requirements still matter.
Internal and external are different projects
In a later recording, I look at the Digiera portable SSD, which connects externally over USB-C. That is another storage arrangement, not a performance comparison with the MP44S.
