Phenyx Pro PTU-X: Trying Wireless in My Existing XLR Recording Chain
Opening the adapters, then switching the same microphone setup over.
Article published November 4, 2026.
Instead of replacing my microphone, this Phenyx Pro system is meant to change the connection. The PTU-X puts a wireless transmitter and receiver into an XLR setup, so I try it with the recording chain I already use.
Two small devices and one charging cable
The box has a carrying case, manual and the separately wrapped transmitter and receiver. Both already have power when I take them out.
The charging cable splits from USB-A to two USB-C ends, letting me connect both units. That is a practical detail I had not expected when I first opened the package.
Keep the rest of the setup familiar
I switch the connection while keeping my existing microphone and Cloudlifter arrangement in the chain. The next portion of the recording is made through the Phenyx system.
There is still a bundle of cables because I do not have a short adapter ready for the way I am demonstrating it. I explain that rather than pretending the whole desk instantly becomes cable-free.
A sample, rather than a measured verdict
You can hear the wireless recording sample in the video above. I do not measure latency or range in this session, and the phantom-power discussion is a feature explanation rather than a test across microphone types.
If you want a system with its own handheld microphones, my Phenyx dual-mic receiver first look covers a different arrangement. This PTU-X session is about adapting an existing XLR chain.
I finish planning a tidier setup and a future follow-up. The original Amazon link supplied with this video is below.
