Overview

StreamSavers is an idle RPG that runs on your desktop. The current version, StreamSavers Desktop, sits on top of everything as a transparent, always-on-top overlay: heroes fight waves, hatch from eggs, equip loot and level up while you use your PC, and running Windows apps can spawn enemies based on their icons. It reacts to your activity using counts only, never the content of your screen.

It is made with streamers in mind. Twitch chat appears in the game world, emotes become targets your heroes can attack, viewers can type !enemy to spawn foes, and an OBS browser-source mode is built in. The developer's March 2026 announcement lists five zones from Desktop Wastes to Void Kernel, collectible characters, 46 egg variants, spells, quest chains and full equipment and inventory.

StreamSavers began in 2020 on itch.io as a GameMaker idle game that sat in your YouTube or Twitch stream, and it entered Early Access on Steam in January 2021. In March 2026 it was rewritten from scratch as StreamSavers Desktop, a single portable Windows executable. That Early Access build is, in the developer's words, a focused slice: the core idle loop, a tutorial, the shop, quests and save/load with backups. Camp, bounties, formation, prestige and other systems are planned for later updates, and the Steam store page describes that fuller design, including viewer reward effects.

Do I have to be streaming to play?

No. Its Steam store page describes it as a living desktop companion and a collection RPG as well as a stream-powered game; it runs on your desktop while you work, play or stream.

Does it look at what's on my screen?

No. It reacts to activity using counts only, for clicks, scrolling and window swaps, never the content on your screen.

Is there an installer?

No. StreamSavers Desktop is a single portable Windows executable you can run from anywhere.

Is StreamSavers finished?

No. It is in Early Access. The March 2026 StreamSavers Desktop build is a focused slice (core idle loop, tutorial, shop, quests and save/load with backups); camp, bounties, formation, prestige and other systems are planned for regular updates.
