A Smash-style platform fighter prototype built with Paragon assets.

Paragon Tournament was a prototype that set out to reimagine Epic Games' Paragon as a Super Smash Bros.-style platform fighter. Built in Unreal Engine 5, it drew on the Paragon characters, levels and assets that Epic Games released to Unreal Engine developers. The plan was a Smash-style game with recognizable Paragon characters, moves, attacks, combos and stages, starting from the 39 Paragon heroes.
The idea first appeared in short dev-day videos in September 2021, and in October 2021 a tech demo went up on itch.io under the working title Paragon Smash. That demo covered a stage and movement only, with no combat interactions; its screenshots show the heroes Countess and Aurora. By 2022 the project had its own website, an early character select screen with locked characters, and a working Ready Player Me integration so players could bring in their own avatars.
Plans included more Unreal Engine assets such as Windwalker Echo, MetaHumans in place of Miis, cross-platform play and a Kickstarter campaign, but no build beyond the 2021 tech demo was published.
