ESR Shift iPad Case: More Angles, Plus a Removable Magnetic Cover

Fitting my iPad and trying the lower, raised and portrait positions.

Article published November 4, 2026.

My old iPad case gives me a couple of angles, but setting it up can be awkward. The ESR Shift looks like a useful change: a fitted case that pulls away from the magnetic cover, with more than one way to stand it up.

The cover can stay behind

After going through the cards and instructions, I remove the foam and try the magnetic connection. The fitted shell and outer cover are separate pieces, so I can take the iPad away without carrying the whole stand arrangement.

I fit my iPad into the shell and attach the cover. The camera opening stays accessible, and there is a place for the pencil in the design.

Lower for drawing, higher for viewing

I work through the ridges and support positions to try different viewing angles. One arrangement brings the screen down low for drawing-style use; another raises it above the table.

The extra height is what I find especially interesting. It changes where the screen sits, rather than only changing its tilt.

One position is less convincing

I try portrait orientation too. The higher magnetic arrangement feels wobbly in that position, and I say I would be less inclined to use it that way. The more conventional portrait support and raised landscape arrangement make more sense to me.

That distinction matters more than simply saying it has lots of angles. This is a fit-and-stand demonstration with my iPad, not a drop-protection test or confirmation that every case variant fits every model.
