Testing what the Mac devices actually deliver

Audio measurements, MIDI round trips and a real disk-image workflow.

The September verification is where the macOS suite's history gets much more concrete. Instead of just listing device pages, the record describes what happened when the app created, used and stopped them on the test Mac.

For audio, the test installed two cables and measured both a loopback and a route through the app mixer into the second cable. Live mute produced silence, and changing gain changed the measured output without restarting the session. That is much more useful than confirming that a volume slider moves on screen.

Display testing created two virtual monitors, stopped one and created a replacement while the other survived. MIDI endpoints completed a live note round trip. Storage testing created an APFS sparse bundle, mounted it, copied a file, read the same bytes back and detached it through the app.

The camera appeared in QuickTime and delivered the generated color-bar stream used at that stage. The network extension created an isolated interface and cleaned up its test routes, but it was still a packet sink rather than the later peer transport. HID remained gated, and MIDI 2.0 wasn't being presented as supported.

Version 26.9.6.1 passed 34 tests and its recorded signing, notarization and extracted-package checks. The upload and page work were verified, while the listing remained a private draft in that record. The September 8 recheck didn't introduce another binary.

This stage gave us a useful baseline with honest limits: real audio and storage behavior, a working test camera source and several lifecycle checks, alongside modules that still needed deeper implementation. The next work would focus on recovery, installation safety and replacing the remaining constrained paths with the intended real services.
