Rite of Eris: Fireballs, Lightning and One More Run at the Demo
Playing the early survivors-style project and unlocking Aurora between runs.
Article published November 4, 2026.
I keep getting myself boxed in by enemies in this demo. One minute I am happily collecting experience and choosing another ability; the next, I am trying to reach a health pickup without running straight into the horde.
A project built around the next upgrade
In this November 2023 update, I show Rite of Eris, a survivors-style project I have been working on from a template collaboration. I talk about bringing in characters and visuals and about ideas for its story.
The first run is outdoors. I collect experience, choose Fireball and start adding upgrades. Lightning and Frost Bolt join in as the screen gets busier.
The route to the health matters
The abilities do more of the attacking as I concentrate on moving. That does not make the choices automatic: I still have to get around enemies, choose an upgrade and decide whether a pickup is worth the route.
I lose that run, try another demo map and eventually earn enough to unlock Aurora.
A different starting attack
Aurora begins with Frost Bolt, so I jump back in to show how the opening feels with her. A chest adds more to that ability early in the run, and I promptly find another awkward place to stand.
This is a look at the early demo and the development plans I described then. More effects, further upgrades and a possible Steam release were ideas, rather than features or a release commitment demonstrated by the video.
