NYXI Hyperion vs Hyperion 2: The Older Shape Has More Room for My Hands

Comparing the grips, button feel and lighting on the original Switch.

Article published November 4, 2026.

I already like the Hyperion 2, so the surprise in this comparison is that the older Hyperion gives my hands even more room. Newer is not the only thing that matters when I am deciding how a controller feels.

NYXI provided the controller for the video. I unpack it, bring the Hyperion 2 alongside it and compare the physical fit on my Switch.

The grip is visibly larger

I attach the controller pieces and compare the handles. The Hyperion has a larger grip area in this side-by-side check, which suits my larger hands.

I also say that will not be everyone's preference. Someone who likes a slimmer controller could reasonably prefer the Hyperion 2's shape.

Button feel is a separate difference

I press the controls and discuss the different tactile feel. I describe the newer model's mechanical buttons and Hall-effect sticks, while reacting to the give in the older controller's triggers.

This is a hands-on comparison, not a teardown or a test of drift resistance, input latency or long-term component life. My predictions about durability in the recording are not completed endurance results.

The lights get a quick try

I turn on the Hyperion and change the lighting colors and effects. That gives me another feature to show without needing to turn the session into a game benchmark.

The controllers are being handled with the original Switch setup in the video. I do not establish Switch 2 support or compatibility with every Bluetooth device. The main result is the one that started the comparison: the bigger grip feels good to me, even beside a newer controller I already enjoy.
