MetaY eGPU Dock: A Short Booth Conversation About Portable Graphics
Kenny explains the dock and the separate idea of renting spare computing power.
Article published November 4, 2026.
A graphics card does not always have to live inside the computer you are using. That is the idea I ask about when I stop to talk with Kenny at MetaY: a portable dock for bringing a desktop-style GPU setup to a laptop.
Two ideas in one conversation
Kenny first describes a platform for offering spare GPU computing power to other people. In his explanation, an owner supplies computing capacity and receives payment while someone else rents it.
That is the company's proposal in this March 2025 interview. I do not sign up, rent out a card or verify a payout in the recording, so this is an introduction to the idea rather than an earnings result or recommendation.
Where the dock fits
The hardware side is the portable eGPU dock. Kenny talks about using a desktop graphics card with a laptop and taking that capability to games or other GPU work. I ask whether it is available and where people can learn more, and he points to the website.
There is no installation or benchmark in this short conversation. It does not establish which laptop ports, operating systems or card combinations work, and the examples discussed are not a promise that any laptop will accept an external GPU.
A starting point for a closer look
What interests me is the separation between the computer you carry and the graphics hardware you might use with it. This booth visit gives us the product pitch; checking a particular setup would be its own hands-on test.
The original MetaY link from the video description is below. Availability and the rental platform's terms would need to be checked with the company.
