Black Shark FunCooler 5 Pro: The Tripod Mount Was the Interesting Part

A first look at the magnetic back, clips, USB power and recording setup before any thermal benchmark.

Article published November 3, 2026.

A phone cooler is easy to think of as a gaming accessory. The other use that interested me was longer video recording, when I would rather have a practical way to mount and cool the phone together.

In this first look at the Black Shark FunCooler 5 Pro, the mounting hardware turned out to be just as interesting to me as the fan and lights.

Magnetic attachment or the supplied clips

I showed the magnetic back and the two detachable grips. With an appropriate magnetic phone setup, the cooler could attach directly; the grips gave me another way to secure it.

Fitting the grips took a little pressure, then they snapped into place. That is useful to see before assuming the loose pieces in the box are just decorative extras.

The tripod connection changes the use case

The clip arrangement also had a tripod mounting point. That connected directly with the recording idea I discussed: holding the phone in position while the cooler ran behind it.

I did not run an extended recording test in this video. The demonstration was about the physical arrangement and why I wanted to try it.

It needs power while it runs

I connected the USB-C cable to turn the cooler on. The fan ran and the lighting came up; it was not a demonstration of a self-contained battery-powered accessory.

I thought the fan sounded quiet in that setting and liked the appearance. The included cable, manual and QR information were also part of the unboxing.

The thermal test was still to come

The title and description contain a dramatic temperature claim. I did not measure that temperature, the claimed cooling speed or a phone's sustained gaming performance here.

At the end, I specifically talked about wanting a follow-up with temperature measurements and longer use. Until that test, my first impression was about the construction, power connection, fan and mounting options.

The price I quoted was the offer at the time of filming. The original Amazon link is below for checking the exact current model and terms.
