My 99-Cent Echo Dot: The Subscription Deal behind the Unboxing
Opening the Dot, its 15-watt adapter and the small details on the back.
Article published November 4, 2026.
A 99-cent Echo Dot sounds like a pretty good deal. There was a catch: mine came with an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription, so the total I described was closer to nine or ten dollars with tax.
That was the deal behind this May 2022 unboxing. Even when I recorded the video, the promotion had already ended. The number in the title is the story of this purchase, not an offer I can promise is available now.
What comes out of the box
The Dot sits on top, with the instructions and a small things-to-try card underneath. I also pull out the included 15-watt power adapter. It uses a dedicated plug rather than USB power.
A look around the Dot
I peel off the wrapping, look over the rubber bottom and show the two connections on the back: power and audio out. Then I fit its included power connector.
This video stops at that physical first look. It is not a music playback comparison or an Alexa setup test. The original Amazon link remains below if you want to check the listing and its present terms.
