Box2D Space Shooter Source (GMS2)
GameMaker Studio 2 template for a Box2D physics space shooter.
Gameplay: the player's ship among asteroids with a glowing orb and a dotted trail, enemy ships and laser fire, with the health, laser cooldown, lives, credits, score and Super Laser readout top left.
Overview
Box2D Space Shooter Source was a free GameMaker Studio 2 project Mike shared in May 2019: a top-down space shooter built as an experiment in using physics-based objects to push, pull and otherwise control things in the game.
It came as two downloads, a ready-to-play Windows build and the GMS2 source files, so it could be played, studied or used as a template. Its graphics came from Kenney.nl, and the on-screen readout tracked health, two laser cooldowns, lives, credits, score and a Super Laser.
The same day, Mike posted a short YouTube clip about it. It later had an itch.io page, which has since been taken down.
