Building the tools around the display driver
Configuration, community automation and better device identification.
A driver can be technically capable and still take too much effort to use. Much of the 2025 Virtual Display Driver work was about the tools and configuration around it: scripts, clearer settings, integration points and better ways to identify the right device.
The February changes expanded configurable cursor support and color-format choices, alongside XML restructuring. Community scripts also received improvements around selecting a display, validating parameters and checking dependencies. Those are useful details when you're automating a streaming session and need the same sequence to work next time.
Silent-install tooling entered the history in the spring. Later work added EDID integration, version metadata for the app and source for a helper that queries IddCx versions. Each gives another part of the toolchain a more explicit way to understand the driver instead of relying on a name or a guess.
DeviceID and PCI-slot information helped friendly naming in September. On a machine with several adapters or virtual devices, a label that connects back to the actual hardware is much more useful than another generic entry.
There were also build, signing-workflow and documentation changes across the year. I don't want to translate every pipeline edit into a claim that a fresh signed release was delivered. The meaningful product story is that the project was becoming easier to integrate, configure and diagnose.
This work also depended on community contributions, including the scripts and integration changes visible in the history. Keeping those contributions credited matters. The virtual monitor is one part of the setup; the surrounding tools are what let people fit it into remote access, capture and automation without rebuilding the workflow from scratch every time.
