It costs you nothing extra, and it has not changed what this article says — where a competitor is the better answer, we say so. I have been waiting a long time for this one. People keep asking whether the accessories I cover work with the Steam Deck, and now I finally have a Deck of my own to try them with. ## The case is part of the arrival I open the shipping package, go through the charger and paperwork, then reach the handheld in its carrying case. This is the 512 GB version I received in August 2023. I talk about trying its anti-glare screen and a screen protector later, but those comparisons are still plans at this point. ## First time in my hands I get the case open and lift out the Deck. It does not feel as large or as heavy as I had imagined while waiting for it. That first reaction is most of this video: getting a look at the hardware and thinking about all the things I want to test next. ## Charge it, then start testing I do not complete a first boot or run a game in this recording. At the end, I say I will connect power and turn it on in another video. The later [QUUGE dock unboxing]() is one example of the accessory work that follows. This post is the starting point, with the Deck just out of its case.
