# SofaBaton U3: The Air Mouse Is Why I Kept Reaching for It

> A color display, learned commands and a pointer for the TV helped make sense of my pile of remotes.

There is a reason I still care about universal remotes in 2026. The TV has a remote. The Android box has a remote. The lights have a remote. Even some of the computers in my recording room have another little remote for their LEDs. At some point, finding the right one becomes its own task.

The SofaBaton U3 gave me a way to bring those controls together. The standout in my June 23, 2026 walkthrough was the air mouse: a feature that made it useful for more than changing channels or adjusting the volume.

## A color screen with physical navigation

The U3 has a color display, with buttons for moving through devices and options. It is not the touchscreen interface I showed on the [SofaBaton X2](<https://pyrosoft.pro/blog/sofabaton-x2-review-the-ultimate-universal-remote-replacement-ecb59ca9>). That is a useful difference to keep in mind when comparing the two remotes.

I had a Fire TV and an Android box set up on the U3 for the walkthrough. The phone app lets you find device profiles, and I also discussed the community's shared profiles. Having a starting point saves programming every command yourself.

## Press the side button and point

The air-mouse button is on the side. Press it and you can move the pointer by moving the remote. I particularly like that for a browser on a TV, where stepping through everything with directional buttons can get tedious.

That was the feature I kept coming back to. A remote with more expensive materials or a touchscreen is not automatically the better choice for every job. For the way I wanted to navigate those on-screen interfaces, the U3's pointer control was useful.

## Learning the remote that is missing from the list

Some of my devices are easy to find in a database. Others are an unremarkable remote for a light strip or another accessory with no helpful model name. For those, I talked through learning commands from the original remote.

You choose a command to program, press the corresponding button on the old remote and check the result on the device. I had used that approach for my LED strips and air conditioner. Those examples are more useful to me than a blanket promise that every device in every house will work.

Macros let you combine commands for the way you use a room or a group of devices. They are another reason to spend some time setting up the remote around your actual equipment.

## Check which package you are buying

I showed USB-C charging and the charging dock in the video. SofaBaton offered different packages, so check whether the listing includes the dock or other accessories you want. The original description's product links and listed 15% coupon code are below.

For me, the appeal was having fewer controls to hunt down and a pointer available when I needed one. Watch the video above for the physical controls and the setup I was using.
