I opened this Lumary box with the porch in mind. Christmas was coming up when I recorded the video, and a line of moving color sounded like a fun addition.

Before taking anything outside, though, I wanted to see the light itself. This is the 16.4-foot package, with a coated rope that feels quite different from a bare LED strip.

## What comes with the rope

I look over the power connection and its threaded connector, then find the manual and remote. The remote needs two AAA batteries, which were not in my package. There are also ground stakes and wall-mounting pieces.

Those parts explain the installation options. Opening them is not a weather-resistance test, and I have not verified the waterproof claims by putting this set through rain.

## The inline button gets a quick demonstration

I plug the lights in inside my recording room. Pressing the inline control changes the colors and patterns, and I turn off the room lights to make the effects easier to see.

There are flowing colors, a runway-like pattern and trails moving along the rope. Holding the button turns the lights off and back on. It is a much more useful first impression than just looking at the unpowered coil.

## Two different ways to decorate with light

I talk about installing the rope on the porch and filming it at night, but the demonstration described here is indoors. App control and voice-assistant support are also features to explore separately.

For a different Lumary format, I later tried [curtain lights with a frame-by-frame animation editor](<https://pyrosoft.pro/blog/lumary-smart-wifi-curtain-lights-next-level-rgb-led-tech-7129c113>). Those create a hanging picture, while this rope follows a line. The original rope-light link is below.
