Sometimes I don't need a whole second application in front of me. I just want to keep an eye on one useful part of it while I'm working somewhere else. That's the idea behind InfinitePIP: take a view from the desktop and keep it nearby in a floating window.

The retained history starts on December 23, 2025, with the modern Python interface. The work that day quickly moved into a package structure with platform utilities, followed by responsive layout and card interactions. There was also a pass to bring the interface closer to the intended design.

That early organization mattered because capture, platform behavior and the dashboard aren't really the same job. Keeping them separate gives us somewhere to make a Windows-specific correction without turning every interface change into a platform rewrite.

The useful goal was already easy to explain. If you're watching a reference, following a process or keeping a small status area visible, you shouldn't have to rearrange your whole desktop to do it. A floating view can give you the information you need while leaving the main application where it is.

This was the beginning of the retained application history, not evidence that every desktop and capture source was already working. The Python implementation later became the deprecated original, which is why someone browsing the project today will find more than one generation of code.

I like keeping that progression visible. The first version establishes the workflow; the later work tells us which implementation can support it more cleanly. InfinitePIP's core idea stayed consistent even as the application underneath it changed quite quickly.
